What is Gpt?

GPT or Generative Pre-trained Transformer is a language model which has been created by Open AI; an acclaimed research company in the filed of Artificial Intelligence (AI). GPT is a recurrent neural network that employs a neural network model called a transformer to produce fluent human like text.

It also states that GPT models are pre-trained on a massive quantity of text data, which inturn means that GPT models acquire the probability distributions over the space of sequences. Such works builds GPT models for natural language processing tasks that includes translation, text summa- rization and conversational agents before fine-tuning training..

History of GPT:

Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) was under development since 2018 at OpenAI, a world-class artificial intelligence research company. The first generation of GPT is GPT-1 which was launched in June 2018, and it possessed 117 Million parameters. This model was learned from a large text corpus through reading books, articles and web pages by employing a form of training known as generative pre-training which does not require labelled data.

GPT-1, established notably efficient language generation, however, it had some limitations in its performance. However, in February 2019 OpenAI released even a better model GPT-2 with 1.5 billion of parameters and the results it produced was even more stunning. Nonetheless, because of some uneasiness over possible misuse of the technology, OpenAI opted not to launch the complete version of GPT-2 to the public.

The third generation of GPT model was launched by OpenAI in June 2020 which is the most powerful having as many as 175 billion of parameters. Indeed, from the overall outputs of text generated by some of the samples and inputs given to GPT-3, the tool displayed an impressive capacity to generate natural language and perform all the mentioned natural language processing tasks. The model has been applied in many different areas such as chatbots and voice assistants, content creation and language translation.

GPT-3 has been popular in the AI world and non-AI world since its launch and some researchers have considered it as a major leap forward in natural language processing. However, there are also various concerns for what such powerful language models might entail for real-world situations, and how it might be used or misused by different agents.

GPT -4 To the best of my knowledge up to March 2023, OpenAI has not come up with GPT-4 as a product of development in the market. Nevertheless, we assume that OpenAI is going to keep funding on language models, and GPT-4 can be seen as a logical progression of GPTs.

GPT- 4:
Namely, it is possible that the GPT-4 model will be even larger than the GPT-3 model, which boasts of having 175 billion of such parameters. When more parameters were introduced into the model, one can obtain even more realistic and accurate text and, therefore , new opportunities for natural language processing appear .

If current trend persists, a new version of GPT-4 can be developed in the future and can focusing on multimodal language models. Word can understand and generate text, images and other formats of data, thus creating new possibilities in próximo, quantitative and education.

Yet another area that could be the development point for GPT-4 could be the place that will address some of the ethical issues that are surrounding language models. For instance, GPT-4 could Step-in and avoid specific kinds of output, such as having features to exclude certain bias that has been learned from the training data or to prevent the production of toxic output.

It will also be important to consider that GPT-4 may also be applied in various other uses, which are at the moment unimagined. In the future, as the number of applications increases in the field of AI new applications for GPT-4 will be found and will be an inevitable part of natural language processing.

To sum up, there is no official information about the development of GPT-4 or its working progress till now but, OpenAI is yet to announce its further investment in language models which in turn make GPT-4 as a preset of GPT progression natural. GPT-4 would possibly have more parameters than GPT-3 but it must also execute measures around language models that are ethical and could also prove versatile for use in other areas.
